I found the dictionary box is a wicker basket, then what is a dog cage? Is this not the same as a dog kennel?

In the UK (or at least my part of it) is a cage made of wood or plastic and is usually a shelter. I think the American terminology is "dog kennel". Can a structure of the various indoor and outdoor shelter for many dogs.
