Is it necessary to present Death Certificate in Probate Court to inquire existence of a WILL? - death probate

My uncle died in the town of Los Angeles. We want to know if a will was filed. Now, it is necessary to submit the death certificate to the probate court to obtain a copy of the will, if necessary. Someone please help.
